Title: frankenstein idea
Post by: dr_funkenstein on January 25, 2009, 07:59:39 PM
so i have thos old 1 watt tube amp that was converted from a little radio broadcaster/amp fromthe 50's.

now, can i use that as a preamp?

what if i wired the input jack from my orange 30 watt to the input of that, and the output of it to the input of my orange amp?

could this be a winning idea?

You can do that, but you have to run the power amp into an appropriate load (eg. 8ohm resistor) and then make a voltage divider to bring the signal to the right level. The same approach worked for me with a 15 tube head.
