I don't know how the amp will sound after closing the cabinet from behind as well as how it will affect the functioning of the tubes...You better go with the Head-Cabinet Idea as it will at least keep your tubes vented.

I do not think that it is ideal to close the back of this amp. You can already see that the metal cover on the tubes is giving them protection as well as ventilation. I have not made any tube amp yet, but whatever tube amp i have seen, the tubes have always been visible to me!  :D
So i would suggest not to cover the whole back.
Instead, you could partially cover the amp....i mean only till the level below the tubes are located.

Cheers.

For the first attempt, start from trying to use another cable and guitar mate.

Hi, ensure that the power supply you are using is filtered well, one reason for noise may be the power supply... Wat power supply are you using?

A 12-0-12 vac/1 amp transformer should work...but if u have transformer re-winders in your locality, then its better to rewind it for exact output...i have never seen a tda2050 used for a 10 watt amp as it is rated at 32w.....the most common one used is the tda2030a....also check the fuse maybe it has died without showing any cases of burning...all the best! And welcome to the forum! Even i'm new :-P

Well!! thanks for the replies! Even i liked the idea about the distortion pedal....and i also liked the idea of putting sockets for checking the clipping level. I have a few queries. Will testing the marshall with other diodes harm the surrounding part of the op amp? And can i use 5mm leds instead of the 3mm ones??                                                                               Regards :-)

Amplifier Discussion / Marshall MG15CD - Any mods??
July 24, 2011, 11:40:19 AM
Hi,
this is my first post in this forum and i find this forum really very interesting!
I have a Marshall MG15CD and and i'm interested to do some tweaks in it.
I want  some improvements in the overdrive section.Like a mod of increasing its gain. The clipping happens because of 2 LEDs (Red and Green) . Can the gain be increased by using 1N4148s or 1N914s instead of the LED's ??
If yes, then what are the other changes that i need to do??

Help is appreciated :)

Thanks and Regards
