Preamps and Effects / DIY FUZZFACE CIRCUIT
April 24, 2011, 09:26:56 PM
Hello, Does anyone know if the fuzzface schematic on freestompboxes.com actually works? I've been thinking of building a fuzz box that's more "vintage" flavored, but I've never built a stompbox before, and I'm not very good at reading schematics.  Will any transistor work? Or do I have to use the very same one it calls for? I was also thinking about ordering one of those DIY mosrite fuzzrite kits.I have a seymour duncan tweak fuzz pedal that I use every day, but it does sound a little dark and muffled. Any advice on building a fuzz box? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hello everyone, not to long ago I purchased a starcaster 15G practice amp from a local pawn shop for $25. When I got home and plugged it in, It sounded pretty good(a little mellow for my taste, though), but the bass control didn't work like it should. there is no bass at zero, which is normal. But as soon as the knob is turned to one, it's like you've flipped a switch and it's on 10. it doesn't change as you progress from 1 to 10 with the bass knob. anyone know what may be the cause?

The Newcomer's Forum / 1970's sears 125-xl amp
April 16, 2011, 12:12:51 AM
Hello, I recently recieved an old sears 125-xl slid state amp from my uncle. I've already replaced 4 transistors(no IC's in this old beast), and it sounds awesome. I've been trying to find out all I can about this old half-stack, but I always run into a dead end. The model number is 1423. it has tremolo and a very weak reverb. All I know is they were made from 1970-1972. Can anyone out there tellme anything about this great old amp?,or at least how to install a three prong plug on it?
