I built this almost from scratch (I bought the neck).

Nice, always cool to see custom guitars. What'd you make the body out of?

The body is maple from my area(upstate NY). The pickguard is diamond plate aluminum. The hbuckers and pots and knobs came from a broken les paul(I didn't break it). Its got a rotary pickup selector a mini varitone and a phase switch for the middle pickup. I'm thinking about building them to sell.

That's pretty sweet man, very cool you use local wood for the body, I'm all about that. If I were you, I'd build them to sell.

It actually sounds like a Les Paul. The action is real low (I love tune-o-matics). The only problem is some buzz with heavy distortion, I think its due to the aluminum pickguard because it goes away if you put your body between the guitar and amp. weird. Zemaitis guitars have an alimunum cover thing and I'm assuming they don't have buzz issues. It doesn't bother me anyway, I just turn around.

Yeah I grounded them both. I moved all my gear around, and the buzz went away. It must have been where the stool was in relation to everything else.
