Agree and add: maybe they designed the 60W amp first, and then "dumbed it down" to make the 30W one, using the same chip.
Production-wise it simplifies life.
Say, the 60W chip costs U$4 (in bulk) and the 30W one costs U$2.50?
I'd gladly "waste" the U$1.50 extra and save on storage, PCB design, inventory control, etc.

Close, evidently they use the TDA7293 for the 60W amp.  Best I can tell the two chips are interchangeable and the TDA7293 just puts out a few more watts.
